It's a glorious day here at Cabinet Joint. I'm Justin, and in today's video I'm going to be showing you a wall spice pull-out.
Now, it's not always necessarily the most desirable to have the spices down in your base cabinet, where you're bending over and reaching. Instead, having them at eye level, where you can just pull them out right next to your oven or your cooking station, allows them to be mounted in the wall. You can pull them out with the door, as you'll see once we have it installed.
These come in two different sizes. There's a 5" unit, and then this here is the 8" unit. They both come at 26¼" tall.
In terms of your cabinet, they're designed for a 9" or a 12" wide cabinet, but you have to have a minimum of 5½" or 8½", respectively, for it to fit inside your cabinet.
You can see this cabinet is taller than the pull-out itself, but there's going to be a shelf on top. It has all the shelf pins, just like your typical wall cabinet. Talk to your cabinet coach—you can get that if you want this particular layout.
With that shelf installed, all the components are in.
Something to keep in mind: this is not a soft-close mechanism, but it does have enough resistance that it's really hard to slam shut.
With the pull-out maxing out at 26¼", that means if you have a taller cabinet, there's going to be extra room. If you'd like, there's also the option to put two more railings on the very top of your pull-out if you want some added spice organization.
Other than that, the other thing to keep in mind is that these come in fixed sizes. We can't widen them. We can't make them any taller.
I hope this video was helpful as you pick out your wall spice pull-out.
