Turn the Space you Have Into the Space you Want
Dream houses don’t fall out of thin air. They don’t grow on trees, or get delivered by storks. But how would you know, when a skilled and determined homeowner can make it look so natural? A DIY remodel is about taking the space you have and creating the space you want, leaving you with an end result that looks like it was meant to be that way the whole time.
In Grace Silla’s blog “10 Undeniable Reasons to Use RTA Cabinets” she details the remodel of her house using Cabinet Joint cabinets. The Sillas saw a bedroom into a bright, beautiful kitchen, a bathroom into a butler’s pantry, and transformed a walk-in closet into a fully equipped laundry room.
There were no shortcuts in this process, but a vision, elbow grease, and beautiful custom cabinets. These rooms weren’t originally supposed to be any of the rooms they became, but with Cabinet Joint’s close customizability of 1/16th inch increments as well as Grace’s keen DIY sensibilities and abilities, the Silla’s house fits their needs to a tee and is magazine ready.
Turning a Bedroom Into an Open Kitchen
The Sillas transformed what used to be a dark extra bedroom into a beautiful open kitchen with lots of natural light. By repurposing a bedroom and designing their kitchen from scratch, the Sillas were able to choose the exact layout they wanted with our RTA custom cabinets. The pair found utility in floor-to-ceiling cabinets which they ordered to fit within awkward corners and spaces, as well as graduated drawers, which keep everything organized. A panel-ready dishwasher and trash cabinet can create a seamless look for the kitchen and tie everything together perfectly.
Custom cabinetry also enabled a clean transition from a washroom to a butler’s pantry, which Grace describes as a “powerful workhorse”, especially when there are several people cooking at once. Extra counter space, heavy-duty granite countertops, and an additional sink and sink cabinet are assets that can make meals come together more easily and enjoyably.
Lastly, turning a walk-in closet to a laundry room is no simple feat. Though the Sillas credit our custom cabinetry to turn shallow and awkward spaces into useful, stylish storage, the creativity and effort of this undertaking can’t be attributed to anyone but them. The finished look of the laundry room is sleek, effortless, and classic, and looking at it, no one would guess that it had ever been anything but an elegant laundry room.
